Here is the conversation starter for the 2019 Colloquy:

Scripture is clear: God is one and is creating one body and is calling us to pursue unity in His spirit.

Scripture is also clear: some who claim to come in the name of Christ don’t—they should be denounced and even put out of fellowship.

This begs the questions: How and when must we find a way to stay together? When and why must we separate from others?

This conversation is a time to explore what informs our pursuit of faithful, biblical, and spiritually mature unity. We’ll also explore how thinking about and acting on this may differ when talking of the local church or talking of an association of churches.

Some Scripture passages which may inform the discussion are (this provides a starting point to prime the pump):

Ephesians 4:1-16
1 Peter 2:4-10
Colossians 3:12-17
Matthew 18:15-17

Romans 16:17-18
1 Corinthians 5:1-11
2 John (especially 7-10)
